13th Century Proto-Falchion

The proto falchion is the first step in an evolution to becoming the more familiar falchion of the 15th Century. It is a vicious looking machete style weapon. They are famously depicted in large numbers in the Morgan Bible (1250s), sometimes with curved "umberella" handles. These are the type I based this version on. The grips are scale tangs fitted with wooden plates.


The blade is EN42j spring steel, hardened and tempered for reenactment use.

The edges are minimum 2mm thick

All points are rounded to a 20mm diameter
