Some axes are found with engraved or inlaid decoration implying a degree of status above that of just a wood working tool or common weapon. The axe pictured is a Petersen Type L with inlaid twisted silver and copper wires to make it that bit fancier.
This polished axe is made from EN9 carbon steel, then fine lines are cut into the axe with chisel and the silver/copper wires are hammered into place.
You can also order a blade protector based on a find from Hedeby. The blade protector is made from oak and based on a find from Hedeby for a hand axe. If you would like one when you order your axe please select it on the order form.
The haft is made from ash and bottom hafted.
I can decorate an axe with different designs and inlay different metals, if this is something you would be interested in getting a price for please contact me.
