My Viking Age axes are hand forged from carbon steel then hardened and tempered to hold a good cutting edge. This axe is based on a Type A from Petersen's Typology of axes.
 
The hafts are made from ash and bottom hafted.
 
The blade protector is based on a Type 1 wooden blade protector from Hedeby. It is made from fruit wood with a veg tan leather thong to hold it in place.
