My Viking Age axes are hand forged from carbon steel then hardened and tempered to hold a good cutting edge. This axe is based on a Type F from Petersen's Typology of axes.
 
The hafts are made from ash and bottom hafted.
 
The blade protector is based on a wooden blade protector from Sigtuna in Sweden. It has carved decoration and is made from ash with a veg tan leather thong to hold it in place.
